Training CNA

Training requirements vary by state, but to get your CNA license in 6 weeks, you will take a course and then pass a state licensing exam. Some states may require as little as two weeks of training, which other might require up to 75 hours of training in basic health care, law, and ethics. Common training areas include communication, how to properly document patient care, safely moving patients, measuring vital signs, and introductory anatomy and physiology. Once you complete the training, you can become certified by pass the licensing exam. The exam will test your knowledge of how to assist patients with their ADLs (activities of daily living).

CNA courses are available at community colleges and nursing schools around the country, and you can find a schedule that meets your needs. In many cases, you can begin working as a nurses assistant while you are pursuing certification, and some facilities may even pay your tuition while you work for them.
