Training CNA

If you’re reading this, you may already be considering a career as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Congratulations, you’re only a few steps away from a rewarding and dependable career! Anyone choosing a career in health care is making a wise investment in his or her future.

The first step toward your new career is preparation to take a CNA certified test. These tests are state mandated and must be passed to receive your CNA license. There are various opportunities available to you for attaining your CNA training. Check your local newspaper for health facilities that may be offering on-job training for CNA classes. This type of training will often be available even to those with no previous medical experience. Community colleges also offer courses in CNA training. These courses may last longer and be more comprehensive, but will have tuition fees in the $300 to $600 range. Check with your local Red Cross, they too will often have CNA training available.

If you’ve not yet graduated high school and are considering a career as a CNA, adding science classes to your curriculum will help advance you toward your career. Even though CNA classes are not comprehensive in this regard, having a background in science will help you with medical terminology and treatments.

You should try to determine what type of training would suit you best. Courses through your community college or the Red Cross will often take more time, up to six months in some cases, while on-job classes with a health care facility are often shorter and can last only a few weeks. Keep in mind that once you have completed your studies you will be required to take a CNA certified test through your state board to complete your education.
